Delhi BJP thanks LG for reinstating mutation stalled by AAP

Delhi BJP on Wednesday thanked Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena for announcing the reinstatement of mutation which they alleged had been stalled for the past eight years due to the inaction of the AAP government.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said, “The Lieutenant Governor’s announcement of land mutation on September 17, which coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, turned the day into a festival of lights for rural Delhi.”

He alleged that land property mutation has been one of the biggest issues for rural Delhi, yet the Arvind Kejriwal government, despite continuous demands from the rural residents, has paid no attention to it in the last 10 years.

“BJP MPs and leaders have consistently raised this issue with both rural residents and the Lieutenant Governor, and today's outcome is a result of these efforts. We are extremely pleased that mutation applications will start being collected in the coming days,” he remarked, adding that the Rs 962 crore that had been lying idle in Delhi government's coffers is now being spent on the development of rural Delhi under the Gram Uday Yojana.

South Delhi BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri claimed that in 2017, the Arvind Kejriwal government changed the rules, which prohibited the transfer of land to the son or daughter in rural Delhi in case of a farmer's death. “Since then, all BJP MPs have raised this issue at the Lieutenant Governor level, and BJP MLAs have consistently raised it in the Assembly,” he said.

Bidhuri added that Rs 1,500 crore is lying in Delhi government's accounts for the development of urbanized villages, and this amount should be spent on the development of these areas. “Electricity connections in unauthorized colonies in Delhi have been stopped, and the BJP has been continuously fighting on this issue,” he said.
