In the early hours of Sunday, criminals set fire to 3 coal-laden trucks to spread panic in the Khalari area of the capital. This incident took place near Nirmal Mahato Chowk at around 4 am. The criminals stopped the vehicles by firing, pulled out the drivers and cleaners and beat them up. After this, one by one, all the three trucks were set on fire.

Police station in-charge Vijay Kumar Singh said that it is being investigated whether this incident has been done by the Naxalites or is the work of some other criminal gang. The police have started a search operation in the area and efforts are on to nab the criminals.

Meanwhile, the growing strength of the security forces in Jharkhand is reducing the support base of the CPI (Maoist). During the last seven years, the Maoists have suffered a huge loss in Jharkhand in the encounter with the security forces. During this period, 109 top Maoists were killed. On the other hand, the security forces have also suffered losses in this incident. During this period, 41 soldiers have been martyred.

Due to the deployment of security forces and intelligence gathering in Jharkhand, the Maoist problem has been limited to a few districts. Whereas a decade ago the issue of Maoists was the biggest concern for the police and security agencies. The Maoists have almost been driven out of the Kolhan region, which was once their stronghold.

Now they have moved to the Saranda forest area in the far south of the state along with the border districts of Odisha like Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. The biggest Maoist commanders Misir Besra and Patiram Manjhi have taken refuge in the Saranda forest area of the state.
