If there is one assembly constituency here in Palamu where the Congress is not to labour hard to find a candidate, it's undoubtedly Daltonganj vidhan sabha seat where the former minister and one term MLA K N Tripathy is taller among others say his critics, rivals, admirers and political analysts.
Tripathy knows when and how to play his political card. He recently conducted his Partigya Yatra which was a great success.
This Yatra was at such a time when the BJP had pumped in its fleet of high profile leaders for the Parivartan Yatra.
Tripathy's Partigya Yatra and the BJP's Parivartan Yatra were no match to each other as for the Parivartan Yatra the BJP had all the money and men while for Partigya Yatra Tripathy had dedicated and committed grass root workers.
BJP held a grand show at the Shivaji Maidan. Tripathy did a magnificent show at the same Shivaji Maidan. There was a party on one side and there was a leader on the other side.
Tripathy has his political worries. Since 2014 he had his electoral misses than any electoral hit. He lost in 2014 vidhan sabha election. He 'threw away his victory' in 2019.
In 2024 he went to Chatra lok sabha election and there he met with what many of his supporters had predicted for him much ahead of the poll results. He couldn't win Chatra lok sabha seat.
There is a very strong indication that BJP will rely again on his two term MLA Alok Chourasia from the Daltonganj assembly constituency.
Speaking to this correspondent today BJP MLA Alok Chourasia said "I know many are politically over-busy. But people know who they like. It's me."
Political analysts believe if Chourasia and Tripathy come face to face electorally again in 2024 then it is surer to be a fierce political and electoral war where strategy and planning will matter most.
