As part of Swachhta Pakhwada campaign, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) organized plantation drive in collaboration with Press Information Bureau (PIB), Bhopal.
Director Prof. Amitabh Pandey said that this program has been designed to emphasize the importance of biodiversity and environmental cleanliness. Planting trees is an important activity as it contributes significantly in increasing the green cover, which plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance.
Trees act as natural air purifiers, absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, improving air quality.
Additionally, they provide habitats for a variety of species, support biodiversity, and help combat climate change by sequestering carbon. During the campaign, participants actively participated in planting various types of saplings, contributing to the green cover and promoting ecological balance.
Varsha Shukla Pathak, Deputy Director, PIB said that the aim of this initiative was not only to enhance the local environment but also to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity and the need for sustainable practices.
