Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced on Wednesday that the Centre has approved a total of 8,46,931 houses for the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Addressing the media in Raipur, Sai said the previous government had deprived more than 18 lakh poor families of Chhattisgarh of PMAY houses because they had not deposited the 40 percent state share required for this scheme.
Thanks to the new financial budget, Chhattisgarh will receive 6,99,331 houses and 1,47,600 Awas plus, he said. "I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi very much on behalf of the 3 crore people of Chhattisgarh,” he said.
