Chhattisgarh artisan selected for National Handicraft Award

Hirabai Jhareka Baghel of Chhattisgarh’s Sarangarh-Bilaigarh has been selected for the National Handicraft Award for her outstanding contribution in Dhokra Bell Metal craft, an official communiqué said on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has congratulated her.

Baghel is a renowned craftsmant. She was feted by the state government for her achievements in this field in 2011–12.  The government also honoured her husband, Minketan Baghel, in 2006-07.
