Budget bundle of papers with false announcements: Bidhuri

Tuesday, 05 March 2024 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri on Monday termed the Delhi budget a bundle of papers with false announcements. He also said those who have been opposing the Ram temple, are now remembering Lord Shri Ram.

Criticising the budget, Bidhuri said in the shameful thing is that in the budget speech, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was compared to Lord Shri Ram while he was unable to answer the many allegations of corruption.

Similarly, the comparison of Aam Aadmi Party leader Satyendra Jain, who was in jail on corruption charges and is out on bail on medical grounds these days, with Hanuman Ji is also condemnable, he said. Bidhuri said the BJP legislature party will demand an apology from Finance Minister Atishi on this.

While reacting to the budget, Bidhuri first of all termed the use of Lord Shri Ram’s name in the budget as disrespectful. He said Kejriwal himself has been opposing the construction of Shri Ram Temple. One of their ministers used derogatory language towards Hindu deities and he remains in the party till date.

Not only this, Congress raised questions on the existence of Lord Shri Ram and opposed the construction of Ram temple in the court. Till date Congress leaders have not gone to Ayodhya to have darshan of Shri Ram. Today, Aam Aadmi Party is contesting the elections along with the same Congress and when the whole world is bowing down before Shri Ram, then hypocrisy is being done to make Delhi’s budget with praise of Shri Ram, Bidhuri said.

Bidhuri said a total budget of Rs 76, 000 crore was presented and it was said to be a profitable budget, but Delhi Jal Board has suffered a loss of more than Rs 76, 000crore and DTC has suffered a loss of Rs 10, 000  crore. Therefore, there is no meaning of economic strength or profit budget, Leader of Opposition said.

Bidhuri said the announcement of Mahila Samman Yojana of Rs 1000 for women is being called a big achievement but the government should explain why the old age pension already announced has been stopped by the government. Not a single new old age pension has been sanctioned since 2017.

He said the achievements of ten years have been falsely presented in the budget because the people of Delhi consider the scams in education, health, transport, water board, DTC and other departments as the achievements of the Kejriwal government.  This government keeps patting itself on the back only based on false propaganda and claims and the same has been done in the budget this time too, he said.

Reacting to the statement that the budget is inspired by the vision of Ram Rajya, BJP leader Manoj Tiwari said the state government is using Lord Ram’s name as a gimmick for the upcoming elections.  “The AAP government is using the word Ram Rajya out of compulsion. But it’s a good thing at least the AAP leaders, who only know corruption, are now speaking about Ram Rajya,” Tiwari said. “However, at present the Delhi government’s budget has no significance. They don’t have much time left because I believe in 2025 the residents of Delhi will give them permanent leave,” he added.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva slammed the AAP government for slashing the budgetary allocation amount for health and education.
