Cold wave continues in Punjab Haryana
Chandigarh: Dense fog disrupted visibility early Friday in Punjab and Haryana which were in the grip of a cold wave with Fatehabad in Haryana and Gurdaspur in Punjab recording a minimum of 5.3 degrees Celsius and 4.5 degrees Celsius, respectively, according to the weather department. Among other places in Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 6.6 degrees Celsius. Karnal, Hisar, Bhiwani and Sirsa also experienced a cold night recording respective minimums of 6.3 degrees Celsius, 7.5 degrees Celsius, 6.8 degrees Celsius and 7.2 degrees Celsius. In Punjab, Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded identical minimums of 6.6 degrees Celsius each. Cold weather conditions also prevailed in Patiala, which recorded a low of 6.3 degrees Celsius while Pathankot, Bathinda and Faridkot also braved the chill, recording respective lows of 6.8 degrees Celsius, 6 degrees Celsius and 6 degrees Celsius. Piercing cold also swept Chandigarh which recorded a low of 6.7 degrees Celsius.
Haryana CS reviews aspirational district programme in Nuh
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Friday chaired a comprehensive review meeting for the Aspirational District Programme in Nuh. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary evaluated sectors such as health and nutrition, education, agriculture, water resources, and basic infrastructure. He underscored the intensified focus by NITI Aayog on Nuh district's development, aligning the efforts of the Government of India and Government of Haryana with the norms set by NITI Aayog. Directing the Deputy Commissioner to address pivotal issues and promptly submit proposals to the government for various programs and schemes, the Chief Secretary emphasized the need for departments to establish targets and timelines, surpassing state standards to position Nuh as a leading district.
Rs 2, 000 per person to be sent to Panchayat account every year for development works, says Dy CM
Chandigarh: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Friday said that the State government is focusing on rural development and all Gram Panchayats will receive Rs 2000 per person per year in their accounts for the development works. Gram Panchayats can develop their villages based on their needs. Chautala was addressing the public meetings in the villages Sihma, Mayee, Nuni Kalan, Shahpur, Badgaon, Barkoda, Tajpur, Chindalia and Dohar Kalan on the last day of his two-day visit in Mahendragarh district. He stated that the government has prioritised numerous development projects in the state. As a result, Haryana now ranks first in the country in sports, industry, and tax collection.
67th National School Handball-19 Sports Competition Inaugurated in Hisar
Chandigarh: Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Kamal Gupta on Friday inaugurated the 67th National School Handball-19 (Boys and Girls) Sports Competition 2023-24 in Hisar. As many as 1100 players of 27 teams from different states and institutions of the country have been participating in this competition. All these matches are to be held on league cum knockout basis.
Rs 620.38 lakh allocated for restoration of state-protected monuments: Dushyant Chautala
Chandigarh: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Friday said that Mahendragarh district boasts a rich historical heritage and is poised to emerge as a significant tourist attraction in the near future. The coalition government remains committed to the preservation of these cultural treasures. The Deputy Chief Minister shared his remarks with journalists following an inspection of the conservation efforts at the historic Chhatta Rai Bal Mukund Das in Mahendragarh. He said that soon, tourists would have the opportunity to explore this historical site, with the preservation work nearing completion. A budget of Rs 620.38 lakh has been allocated for the restoration of the state-protected monument, renowned as Birbal's hive. While 70% of the conservation work is already accomplished, the remaining 30% will be addressed through separate tenders.
Improve services or face stringent action: Himachal Health Minister to ambulance service providers
Shimla: Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil while chairing a meeting on the operation and maintenance of 102 and 108 ambulance services directed the ambulance service providers to make improvements in its services to facilitate the people in a better way. "It has been brought to my notice by the people that these ambulance services were not being regularly maintained as required and sans basic facilities viz: oxygen cylinders, and adequate first aid kit", said the Minister, adding that it has also been noticed that these ambulances and the related services were either missing or were not been properly maintained. He said that as the company was involved in ferrying serious patients, it should improve its services and should be equipped with better medical equipment and first aid kits. He further said that if the services were not improved by the company and the complaints continued to pour in, the department would be compelled to discontinue their services.
