3 JAWANS INJURED IN LANDMINE EXPLOSION BY MAOISTS

Bhubaneswar: A landmine explosion by Maoists at Batepanga forest on the Boudh-Kandhamal border left three SOG jawans injured on Friday. The blast took place when the security forces were conducting a combing operation in the area on the basis of a tipoff regarding movement of Maoists in the forest. Following the incident, two teams were sent to the spot to rescue the injured jawans. Combing operation was intensified in the region after the explosion.

 

WOMAN AXED TO DEATH BY HUSBAND IN BALANGIR

Balangir: A man allegedly axed his wife to death at Brahmapura village under the Patnagarh police limits in Balangir district on Friday. The accused Krushna Chandra Bag fled from the spot following the incident. Krushna used to shout at his wife Anjana Bag many times over trivial issues at home. “He usually indulged in verbal fights with my mother. He hacked her to death with an axe while the latter was taking bath in the morning,” said the deceased’s son. Police launched a manhunt to nab the accused.

 

N’RANGPUR FOREST GUARD NABBED WITH RS 1.53L CASH 

Nabarangpur: The Vigilance on Thursday caught a Forest Guard in Nabarangpur district with suspected ill-gotten cash. Based on reliable information, the Vigilance apprehended Forest Guard and in-charge of Jagannathpur Beat Binayak Sori, posted at the DFO Office, while he was travelling in a motorcycle and seized suspected ill-gotten cash of Rs 1.53 lakh from him. Later, a house search was carried out at one location of Sori from the DA angle.

 

JSPUR DIST HAS 9,48,657 VOTERS

Jagatsinghpur: The final voter list 2024 for Jagatsinghpur district was published on Thursday. As many as 9,48,657 people have enlisted as registered voters out of whom 4, 91, 757 are male and 4,56, 802 are female while 98 are from the transgender category. The electoral roll correction and addition had started in the district on October 27 and continued till December 9 in 1,047 booths spread across the district. The copies of the final voter list were given to national and regional political parties' representatives.

 

1ST PADDY PROCUREMENT CENTRE UNVEILED IN JSPUR

Jagatsinghpur: The first paddy procurement centre was inaugurated by Collector Parul Patwari at Tarapur under Raghunathpur block in Jagatsinghpur district on Thursday.  WSHG Siva Shaktit has been assigned to manage the center and collect paddy from the farmers. A total of 104 paddy procurement centers will function across the district with 9 WSHGs assigned to run them this year, Collector Patwari informed. Among others,      District Civil Supply Officer [CSO] Sujata Mishra, Sub-Collector Pradeep Kumar Sahoo, ACR Santosh Kumar Mallick, DSWO Namita Rout, RMC secretary Suryakanta Das, BDO Namita Barik, Tarpur Sarpanch Susama Mallick, members of Siva Shakti SHG, farmers and PRIs members were present. 

 

IFFCO PARADEEP HOLDS ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS DRIVE 

Paradip: The IFFCO Paradeep unit is observing the Road Safety Week from January 1 to 7 in collaboration with the Cuttack RTO, IFFCO’s “Sadak Surakshya Sachetanata Rath", adorned with banners displaying various road safety slogans, embarked on a journey from Cuttack to Paradip, covering multiple locations in Cuttack, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts. The flagging off ceremony of the Sachetanata Rath was conducted by IFFCO Paradeep unit director KJ Patel. A street play titled "Sadak Surakshya Paribar Rakshya" was presented on Thursday within the IFFCO premises. PRO Prasanna Kumar Beura coordinated the programme.

 

MALYAGIRI MAHOTSAV INAUGURATED 

Pallahara: The 4th Malyagiri Mahotsav was inaugurated by Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahu on Friday. The inaugural meeting was presided over by Sub-Collector Sushant Pati. Kunu Bihari Das, State Youth Kalyan President, was special guest. Rasmita Sethi, ZP Vice-President; Ramakrushna  Pradhan, Kaniha block Chairperson; and

Reenarani Naik, Pallahara block Chairperson, were guests of honour. Traditional cultural activities were performed by local artists. MLA Mukesh Pal will preside over all other functions.

Bhubaneswar: Lung transplantation is a most complex medical endeavour. The Marengo CIMS Hospital, Ahmedabad is a recognised lung transplant centre. Lung transplantation is a definitive treatment for Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. IPAH, also known as Primary Pulmonary Hypertension (PPH), manifests in the second and third decades of life. It kills young people suddenly and is one of the causes of sudden cardiac death. The Marengo CIMS Hospital endeavours to create awareness of this disease.
