Brawl during Goddess Durga idol immersion at Garhwa

There was a huge uproar in Lakhna  village of Garhwa in Jharkhand when Durga idol immersion was stopped. Three peoples  were injured in stone pelting. Two seriously injured people undergoing treatment in the hospital while one injured discharge from the hospital after first aid. 

People going for idol immersion were allegedly stopped by people of other community in Lakhna village. They said that every year immersion does not take place through this route.  At present, the police and administration team is present in the village and is resolved the matter. The idol immersed, however, the situation is under control. A large number of police force is also deployed in the village in view of security.

Garhwa SP Deepak Kumar Pandey confirmed the incident and said that peace has been restored there. The situation is completely under control. Three people were injured in this incident, out of which one has been discharged after first aid while two people are undergoing treatment.

On the other hand, Jharkhand BJP President and former Chief Minister of the state Babulal Marandi posted a social media post on Saturday night regarding this dispute, in which he accused the members of minority community of stopping the immersion of Maa Durga's idol in a village of Garhwa.

In his 'X' post, Marandi wrote, 'In a village in Garhwa, people of the other community have stopped the immersion of the idol of Maa Durga for the last 6-7 hours. Instead of taking action against those who are spreading religious frenzy by stopping the immersion, the police is only pleading. The DGP of Jharkhand Police should immediately take cognizance and take strict action against those who are stopping the immersion and ensure the immersion of the idol of Maa Durga, otherwise the social harmony of the area may be disturbed.'

This incident is from Lakhna village of Sadar police station area of Garhwa. Where the immersion of Durga idol was stopped by the other community due to road dispute. According to the news, instead of the route that was adopted every year for idol immersion, a new route was adopted this time. In protest against which the people going for immersion were stopped. After which a situation of tension has been prevailing in the village for the last 6-7 hours.

Stone pelting also took place amid the dispute in the village in which many people have been injured. The situation is still tense. DC-SP are present on the spot. At present, the police is trying to convince the people of both the sides by talking to them to resolve the dispute. Heavy police force is also deployed in the village for security.

On other hand there is also tense situation regarding Durga Puja immersion in Matgadi village of Bhandaria police station area of Garhwa district. Today at around 3:00 pm, the dispute between the police and the villagers escalated so much that the police had to lathicharge to control the crowd. According to the information received, heavy stone pelting took place during this time, in which Garhwa's campaign DSP Rahul  suffered serious head injury and was injured. There is also information about the police releasing tear gas for self-defense to control the situation. Due to which the villagers have also been injured. The villagers have also damaged many police vehicles at the moment. The situation remains tense at the spot.

Garhwa Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Pandey reached the spot and tried to handle the situation. Till the time of writing the news, a large number of villagers have gathered in the Durga Puja pandal, who are waiting for permission to immerse the idol through the disputed route.
