BeMC Commissioner J Sonal at a Press meet on Tuesday unveiled an ambitious blueprint for a dynamic, technologically advanced and aesthetically pleasing Brahmapur city.

At the heart of this transformative endeavour lies BeMC's holistic strategy, poised to address fundamental infrastructural elements crucial for the city's development. The comprehensive plan spans the rejuvenation of roads, drainage systems, sewage facilities, street illumination, traffic management, and the seamless integration of various Government schemes across BeMC's wards.

In a significant stride towards decentralized governance and service accessibility, the BeMC is gearing up to inaugurate 42 strategically located ward offices in January, ensuring efficient administration and the facilitation of developmental projects at the grassroots level. Accentuating Brahmapur's inherent charm, the initiative outlines plan for the revitalization of 49 water bodies scattered across the city.

Among these, 31 water bodies are slated for extensive repair and beautification, with accelerated efforts focused on the remaining 18. Progress on at least 10 water bodies is anticipated by February 15, aimed at positioning Bedabandha water body as a captivating tourist destination akin to revered landmarks such as Ramalingeswar Park and Ambapua's Rock Garden under BeMC.

Steering towards commercial rejuvenation, the BeMC has allocated substantial funds of Rs 4 crore for the Mission Shakti Bazar within its jurisdiction, aimed at showcasing exclusive Mission Shakti products and boosting local entrepreneurial endeavours.

Further fortifying the city's commercial landscape, a notable budget of Rs 35 crore has been designated for the reconstruction of the Giri Market building, complemented by plans for the Ganjam Haat complex. The strategic introduction of no-vehicle zones seeks to streamline traffic flow within bustling market areas such as Giri Market, Sana Bazar, Bada Bazar, Bhapur Bazar and Annapurna Market, enhancing efficiency and accessibility.

In a bid to enrich civic experiences, the visionary plans include the establishment of a "Khao Gali" or Food Court at strategic locations near the Khallikote College square and Bijipur square.
