Under the "Swachhata Hi Seva" campaign, efforts are being made to free towns, cities, villages, and neighborhoods from waste. On September 19, 2024, a cleanliness drive was conducted at City Park, Sector 1, Bokaro Steel City. The event included waste collection, a cleanliness pledge, a rally, and tree plantation under the "One Tree for Mother" initiative. The campaign will continue until October 2, 2024.
Prominent attendees included Additional Municipal Commissioner Anant Kumar, District Supply Officer Shalini Khalko, District Education Officer Jagarnath Lohra, District Planning Officer Raj Sharma, District Information Officer Saket Kumar, Executive Engineer of Chas Rampravesh Ram, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Priyanka Kumari, and several other district and municipal employees.
Deputy Development Commissioner Girija Shankar Prasad urged citizens to actively participate in cleanliness initiatives, asking them to take responsibility for maintaining hygiene in their homes, neighborhoods, villages, and cities. He stressed the importance of incorporating cleanliness into daily routines, not just as a campaign, but as a lifestyle, to ensure a healthy future for upcoming generations and protect the environment from pollution.
This year's "Swachhata Hi Seva" campaign theme is “Habitual Cleanliness and Clean Values”, promoting a deeper commitment to maintaining a clean environment.
The event also saw participation from City Managers, Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, the Chas Drinking Water and Sanitation Division, UNICEF-supported teams, SBM & JJM Team members.
