As part of the 7th edition of the ‘Baroda Kisan Pakhwada,’ Bank of Baroda’s Bhopal Circle hosted a mega Kisan Mela in Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh.
The programme aims to connect with farmers and rural communities across India while promoting the use of banking and technology in agriculture. The event was inaugurated by Shilta Patle, Collector of Narsinghpur, and Nityanand Behera, General Manager of Vigilance at Bank of Baroda.
During the Kisan Pakhwada, the bank engaged with over 5,000 farmers, sanctioned agricultural loans worth approximately Rs 35 crore, and conducted outreach programmes across the Bhopal Circle, including Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore, Ratlam, and Gwalior.The bank highlighted its digital offerings for farmers, including the Digital Baroda Kisan Credit Card and Digital Gold Loan.
The Baroda Kisan Credit Card (BKCC) is integrated with the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) for a fully digital loan process, from customer onboarding to disbursement, and is currently available in 17 states.
The Digital Gold Loan allows customers to apply for gold loans via the bank’s digital platform.
Sharat Panigrahi, Deputy General Manager at Bank of Baroda, remarked, “Kisan Pakhwada underscores our commitment to supporting farmers with innovative banking solutions.
This year, we are expanding our digital services to enhance accessibility and meet the agricultural community's needs.”
Bank of Baroda operates 271 branches in the Bhopal Circle, with 137 semi-urban and rural branches.
Major agricultural lending products include Kisan Credit Cards, Gold Loans, Tractor Loans, and loans to Self-Help Groups (SHGs). As of 30th September 2024, the agricultural loan portfolio in the region grew by 7.26% year-on-year.Baroda Kisan Pakhwada aims to deepen the bank’s engagement with the farming community, raise awareness about its agricultural products, and promote government schemes for the sector.
