Placing an impetus on the improvement of sanitary conditions in the state capital, Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan on Friday called for the immediate removal of garbage.
The civic official was inspecting the cleanliness system.He later spoke to sanitation officials and asked them to ensure time-bound execution of cleanliness-related tasks in adherence to the guidelines of the sanitation audit (Swachh Survekshan).
He instructed the officials to ensure the immediate removal of garbage collected during the cleaning of public places and told them to eliminate garbage-vulnerable spots in the city.
The top municipal official underlined the need to bring the practice of garbage burning to an immediate end and told the nodal officers to remove all illegal hoardings, banners, and signposts from public spaces in the capital.
He said that the attendance of all sanitation department employees must be recorded on the Sarthak App and warned of action against those registering over 10 percent absence from their duties.
Narayan also visited Link Road, New Market, Jawahar Chowk, Bhadbhada, Suraj Nagar, Neelbad, and Nehru Nagar to inspect sanitary conditions in these localities. He expressed dissatisfaction upon coming across garbage heaps beinJawahar Chowk and Suraj Nagar.
Following the review, he issued directives for enhancements to green belts, maintenance of central areas, and stressed the importance of monitoring night cleaning and waste collection.
The Swachh Survekshan 2024 comprises four quarterly assessments. The first two include telephonic feedback from citizens on various parameters of city cleanliness. The third quarter focuses on the assessment of processing facilities, while the last quarter is a field assessment across all indicators.
