BJP protests against Kejriwal’s misuse of taxpayers’ money at ‘Sheeshmahal’

BJP leaders and workers staged protests across the city, accusing AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal of spending taxpayers' money on personal comfort during his tenure as Delhi chief minister.

The BJP leaders alleged that Kejriwal spent crores on lavish items and modern facilities at his official residence at 6 Flagstaff Road. Kejriwal after resigning as Delhi Chief minister vacated the Flagstaff Road bungalow in Civil Lines earlier this month.

In a protest near Kejriwal's current residence on Firozshah Road, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva alleged that 15 toilet seats installed at "Sheeshmahal" (Flagstaff Road bungalow) after spending lakhs of rupees were missing.

"We are protesting to tell people how Kejriwal spent taxpayers money on toilet seats worth Rs 12 lakhs. Fifteen such toilet seats were stolen," Sachdeva charged.

He asserted that the fight against the corruption of Kejriwal and Atishi’s government will continue while comparing Kejriwal to a former UP Chief Minister who they claimed stole faucets while vacating his bungalow. “Kejriwal, on the other hand, took commodes worth Rs two crores so that no common man could see them,” he added.

Sachdeva highlighted the extravagance by mentioning that each toilet seat in the bungalow cost Rs 12 lakhs. “What common man’s house has such luxury?” he asked, stating that Kejriwal uses taxpayers’ money for personal enjoyment but pretends to be a victim.

"Arvind Kejriwal will have to give an account of the crores of rupees from the taxpayers money spent on providing him a luxurious stay at the Sheeshmahal," he said.

Alka Gurjar, co-incharge of Delhi BJP, said the issue directly impacts the people as taxpayers' money was involved and AAP cannot be allowed to "loot" it. “While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to provide proper toilets in rural areas, Kejriwal’s bungalow boasts facilities that even five-star hotels do not offer. She stressed that citizens would hold Kejriwal accountable in the upcoming elections,” he said.

Northwest Delhi BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia criticised Kejriwal for taking the commodes while vacating the bungalow and stating, “The self-proclaimed common man is now a privileged one, as everyone in Delhi has witnessed.”
