Days after Vistara bound flight for Srinagar and Indigo flight bound for Varanasi received a bomb threat, an airplane bound to Mumbai for Delhi on Monday was diverted to Ahmedabad after it received a security alert on board.
An Akasa Air flight from the Indira Gandhi International airport in the national capital, which was carrying 186 passengers, including one infant and six crew members, was diverted to Ahmedabad after it received a security alert on board. The aircraft landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10:13 am, and all passengers were safely deplaned.
“As per prescribed safety and security procedures, the plane was diverted to Ahmedabad. The Captain followed all required emergency procedures and landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10:13 hrs. All passengers have been deplaned. Akasa Air is following and supporting all safety and security protocols on the ground,” Akasa said in an official statement.
This incident follows a trend with the recent security threats to airlines in the past few days. A Vistara flight bound for Srinagar on Friday with 177 passengers and one infant also received a bomb threat. Flight UK-611, which departed from Delhi, landed safely at Srinagar Airport at approximately 12:10 am. “All passengers were safely de-boarded at the isolation bay. Currently, the aircraft is undergoing a thorough security check by the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of all concerned,” an airport official said.Meanwhile, IndiGo’s Delhi-Varanasi flight received a bomb scare last Tuesday, which turned out to be a hoax threat.
A tissue paper, with the word ‘’bomb@5.30’’ written on it, was found in the lavatory.
