Following the success of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the recently-concluded Punjab municipal elections, state unit president Aman Arora, accompanied by senior leaders and Ministers, on Tuesday met with AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and national general secretary Sandeep Pathak in Delhi. The leaders, buoyed by their impressive win, congratulated Kejriwal and the central leadership, setting the tone for a high-stakes strategy session aimed at the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
The municipal poll results have reaffirmed AAP’s growing foothold in Punjab, with the party securing victory in 55 percent of the wards.
Arora, speaking to the media, hailed the victory as a testament to the public’s trust in AAP’s governance and policies. “The success in Punjab reflects the people’s belief in our vision for change. This victory torch, which once inspired Punjab from Delhi, has now returned to strengthen Delhi’s resolve,” he said.
The meeting is seen as a pivotal step in aligning Punjab’s momentum with Delhi’s electoral ambitions, promising a comprehensive strategy to consolidate the party’s position in the national capital.
The meeting, the details of which is yet unknown, is expected to analyze the municipal election results in Punjab, where AAP decisively outperformed its rivals, restricting other parties to just 30 percent of the total wards. Besides, the leaders will also draw lessons from three back-to-back electoral wins to shape a robust strategy for Delhi.
Sources indicated that the meeting will focus on mobilizing resources and assigning roles to Punjab Ministers and legislators for the Delhi elections. Duties and responsibilities will be clearly defined to ensure seamless coordination across campaigns. AAP’s leadership aimed at replicating its successful Punjab model, emphasizing grassroots engagement, strong organizational structures, and local governance achievements.
With Delhi elections approaching and expected to be announced anytime now, all major political parties have ramped up preparations. AAP’s central leadership viewed the recent municipal victory in Punjab as a morale booster and a signal of public trust in their governance.
Arora, underscoring this sentiment, said: “The victories in Punjab reflect the faith people have in AAP’s policies. Now, our focus is on ensuring that the same faith is extended to Delhi voters.”
