AAP Gears Up for Punjab Bypolls: Focus on Grassroot

Thursday, 24 October 2024 | PNS | Chandigarh

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has set its sights on winning all four seats in the upcoming Punjab by-elections, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and senior party leaders confident that their focus on grassroots issues will resonate with the voters. At a high-level meeting held on Wednesday, AAP national general secretary and MP Dr Sandeep Pathak, along with CM Mann, laid out the party's strategy for the elections scheduled for November 13.

During the two-hour meeting, which saw the participation of all four AAP candidates, including senior leaders such as Harchand Singh Barsat and Jagroop Singh Sekhwan, a detailed plan was discussed to reach out to the public. Mann expressed strong confidence in the party’s ability to secure all four seats, emphasizing that AAP's success lies in its focus on delivering tangible results and addressing the real concerns of the people. “The people are with us because we work on their issues, not on empty promises,” Mann said.

Dr Pathak, speaking to the media after the meeting, outlined AAP’s election campaign strategy, which will prioritize small gatherings and roadshows across villages. The goal is to directly engage with voters, highlighting the achievements of the AAP government over the last two and a half years. Dr Pathak emphasized that the campaign will be built around the genuine demands of the public, a strategy that has proven successful in past elections.

“Our focus is on what the people truly want and need. By addressing these concerns head-on, we will easily earn their trust and blessings,” said Dr Pathak, adding that party workers have been deployed to ensure widespread outreach across all four constituencies.

The upcoming by-elections in Barnala, Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, and Chabbewal have turned into a highly anticipated political contest, with opposition parties, including Congress and the BJP, fielding strong candidates. However, Dr Pathak dismissed the notion of tough competition, asserting that the AAP will sweep the polls as it did in the Jalandhar by-election earlier this year.

At the same time, Dr Pathak criticized the BJP for its attempts to undermine Punjab’s farmers and arhtiyas (middlemen), accusing the party of indulging in divisive tactics to destabilize AAP's growing popularity in the state. “BJP’s dirty politics won’t work here. Punjab is not a place for their conspiracies,” he declared, urging voters to reject such negative strategies.

With Arvind Kejriwal expected to join the campaign trail in the coming days, AAP is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to secure victory. Dr Pathak reaffirmed the party’s commitment to serving the people of Punjab, ensuring that AAP will fight for every vote and continue its mission to bring real progress to the state.
