In the five Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttarakhand a total of 55 candidates are now left in the fray after the end of the process of withdrawal of the nomination papers on Saturday. In Almora (SC) reserved constituency, the independent candidate Arjun Kumar Dev withdrew from the contest on the day.
The Additional Chief Electoral Officer ( ACEO) Uttarakhand, V K Jogdande said that the process of nomination for all the five LS seats in Uttarakhand has been completed. He said that after the end of the nomination process, 11 candidates are in fray for Garhwal Lok Sabha while there are 14 candidates in Haridwar, 10 in Nainital and seven in Almora ( SC) constituency.
He said that the publication and broadcasting of exit polls would remain banned during the election process as per the orders of the Election Commission of India. He said that the ban will remain effective from 7 am on 19 April till 6.30 pm on June 1. Jogdande said that all the media houses will have to ensure that no exit poll is published during the aforementioned period. Apart from this the publication and broadcasting of opinion polls will also remain banned 48 hours before the end of the voting.
