40-year-old man drowns while fishing in upper lake

A 40-year-old man drowned while he had gone for fishing with his friends at Upper Lake on Sunday morning.

Police said that Shivram Garve   reached the Upper Lake near VIP Road with three friends for fishing while tying the net here, he drowned in the deep water. He did not know how to swim. By the time his friends called for help, he had drowned. The police have registered a case and started investigation in the matter. The body has been recovered and sent for postmortem.

According to Kohefija police, Shivram Garve (40), a resident of Mother India Colony, was in a private job. He left home at 9 am on Sunday. At around 10.30 in the morning, he was tying a net to catch fish on the banks of the big pond located at Bhutta Chauraha VIP Road. Suddenly he drowned in deep water.

He had three other friends with him. All three did not know how to swim. They shouted and asked for help from passersby, but no one helped. They reached the outpost of Kohefiza police station located nearby, but no policeman was found there. They went to the locality and informed about the accident. From there, they called their friends for help.

Meanwhile, divers of the Municipal Corporation had reached the spot on the information of passersby. They searched and took out the body from the water at around 12:15 in the afternoon. The police have started investigating the case by registering a case.

Meanwhile a 17-year-old swept away in the Chopra Kalan drain in the evening on Friday, his body was recovered on Saturday morning at a distance of about two hundred meters from the spot.

The deceased was identified as Sagar Meena who was a student of class 11. On Friday evening, he went to take bath with his friends in a drain located in the village. After slipping, he went into deep water, just five seconds later he disappeared  Friends came to call for help, after which the villagers and the administration team kept searching for him but the body was not found till late night.

When the search started again on Saturday morning, the body was found at a distance of 200 meters from the spot.
