Thursday, 26 December 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

IIM Ranchi started the third edition of the Young Changemakers Program (YCP) on the theme ‘Pillars of Society’. Designed to nurture socially conscious leaders, YCP 3.0 will build on its legacy of empowering change makers to address pressing societal challenges and create meaningful impacts.

The Young Changemakers Program is a transformative initiative hat equips students with the skills and empathy needed to engage with real world problems. In its past editions, YCP successfully bridged gaps between communities and changemakers thereby fostering a culture of innovation, leadership and social impact. The theme ‘Pillars of Society’ will celebrate the contribution of unsung heroes who have helped shape communities and will also inspire participants to embrace their roles as changemakers.

During the inauguration, the first honoured guests were the people of Rasabeda whose stories of resilience and dedication to healthcare, education and community development left a lasting impression on the audience. Women drivers of the Pink Auto initiative shared their empowering journeys of creating safer public places and supporting their families.

Professor Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director of IIM Ranchi spoke about the past, present and future of YCP and the larger vision for creating social change and also motivated participants to see themselves as key drivers of transformation.

Raj Singh, founder of Samachar Wala YouTube channel, emphasised that YCP is a commendable initiative and it also highlights the societal gaps that need to be addressed which makes the program even more vital in today’s world.

During the unveiling of the YCP mural ‘The Social Canvas’, participants and guests left their handprints on the mural as a symbolic act of unity and equality, reminding everyone present of the shared responsibility to foster societal progress.

While addressing the audience, Professor Gaurav Marathe spoke about the importance of aligning personal aspirations with the broader goal of social change and emphasised the urgent need for programs like YCP to build a better and more equitable society.

The ceremony culminated with the felicitation of community pioneers such as Suman Devi, Sushila Devi, Heera Devi Jagpati Devi, Etwa Bedia and Manisha Kumari for their extraordinary contribution.
