Among those candidates trying their luck on the 6 assembly seats this assembly elections on different seats within Dhanbad district , there are three who have contested the Lok Sabha elections at some point of time.
Though defeated are in fray once again . Among these candidates, there are two who contested the Lok Sabha elections from Giridih Lok Sabha constituency, but had to face defeat and one who has contested the election from Dhanbad Lok Sabha, but after getting defeated, he is trying his luck again in the assembly after a age of ten years .
These include JMM candidate Mathura Prasad Mahato from Tundi, Congress candidate Jaleshwar Mahato from Baghmara and Congress candidate Ajay Dubey from Dhanbad.
Mathura Mahato was the JMM candidate from Giridih seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Now he is again the JMM candidate from Tundi seat in the assembly. Ajay Dubey has contested the election from Dhanbad Lok Sabha constituency on a Congress ticket in the year 2014. This time he is a candidate from Dhanbad Assembly under the banner of Congress. Again in 2014, Jaleshwar Mahato was also in the fray from Giridih Lok Sabha seat on a JDU ticket. This time he is a Congress candidate from Baghmara.
Figures show that Mathura Prasad Mahato was the runner up in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on the Giridih parliamentary seat. He had received 3,70,259 votes. While NDA candidate Chandra Prakash Chaudhary won by getting 4,51,139 votes.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, congress candidate Ajay Kumar Dubey got 2,50,537 votes while contesting the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat. At that time, BJP's Pashupatinath Singh got 5,43,491 votes. In 2014, Jaleshwar Mahato contested from the Giridih parliamentary seat. He got less than 50,000 votes.
This time it remains to be seen to what extent they are able to win the trust of the voters.
It's worth mentioning that , Mathura Prasad Mahato is an MLA from Tundi in the 2019 assembly elections, while Jaleshwar Mahato was defeated by BJP's Dullu Mahato by less than 1000 votes in the 2019 assembly elections. In 2019, Mannan Malik was the Congress candidate from Dhanbad assembly constituency. He was defeated by BJP's Raj Sinha.
