23-year-old youth trying to save dog, drowns in Kerwa river

A 23-year-old youth died due to drowning while trying to save a dog from drowning; two girls also jumped but managed to reach the bank at Kerwa river. The incident occurred around 10.30 am on Wednesday.

The deceased had gone for a walk with two girls. While crossing the river, the dog accompanying them went into river and started drwoning. To save him he jumped into the water. Both the girls also jumped after him.

After some time the girls somehow reached the shore. The dog also came out of the water. But when the young man did not turn up, dial 100 was informed. Divers who reached the spot took out the body after searching for 3 hours in 10 feet deep water.

When the body was taken out, there were wound marks on his face. It is being told that this may have happened due to hitting a stone or getting stuck in the bushes.

ASI Antram Yadav of Ratibad police station said that 23-year-old Saral Nigam was an M.Tech student in MACT College (Maulana Azad College of Technology). He passed out in the same year. He lived in Sagar Garden Colony, Chuna Bhatti, Bhopal.
