Bar brawl shocks Delhi

The national capital was left in shock after four men allegedly opened indiscriminate fire outside a nightclub in Delhi’s Shahdara in the early hours of Saturday.

According to the police on Sunday, the accused men know the owners of the club and had demanded a permanent seating there free of cost. On the night of the incident, they opened fire in a bid to exert their power.

The Delhi Police said that they have arrested a 30-year-old man who was among the four men who pointed guns at about three to four bouncers, including a female one, standing outside the night club while hurling abuses at them and asking them to get on their knees.

DCP Shahdara, Surendra Choudhary said, “On Saturday, at 12.59 am a telephonic call from Umar regarding firing at Kanch Club in Jhilmil Industrial area, Delhi was received at Seemapuri police station.”

A team from Seemapuri police station reached the spot and found two live cartridges and eight empty shells on the road infront of the Kanch club. “There were two bullet marks at the door of Kanch club. The scene of crime has been inspected by the District Mobile crime team and cartridges seized,” Choudhary added.

Statement of complainant 25 year old Umar, who is a resident of Maujpur, was recorded. According to the complaint lodged by the club’s bouncer, four men arrived at the club around 11.45 pm on Friday. Two of them aimed their guns and pointed towards him.

In a viral video of the incident, a man comes and points his gun towards the bouncer while two of his friends join him later. Among the accused, one also enters the club and then comes out of it shortly after.

“Thereafter they fired their pistols towards them with intention to kill him. Thereafter all four accused persons have fled away from the spot towards Vivek Vihar,” the DCP said.

Based on the complaint, an FIR under section 109 and 3 (5) of BNS and 25 and 27 of the Arms Act was registered and one 30 years old Shahrukh, resident of Ghaziabad, was arrested.

Two more accused have been identified and efforts are underway to nab them, the officer added.
