Maliwal spills the beans to cops, NCW calls Kejriwal’s PA

The Delhi Police recorded the statement of the controversial AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at her house on Thursday, days after she claimed to have been assaulted by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, at the AAP chief’s residence.”

Breaking her silence on the issue for the first time since the incident happened, Maliwal wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "What happened to me was very bad. I have given my statement to the police on the incident that happened to me. I hope that appropriate action will be taken.

“The last few days have been very difficult for me. I thank those who prayed for me. Those who tried to do character assassination and said that she was doing it on the instructions of the other party, may God keep them happy too. An important election is going on in the country, Swati Maliwal is not important, the issues of the country are important. There is a special request to BJP people to not do politics on this incident."

The police team, led by Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) P S Kushwaha reached Maliwal’s house, and stayed there for more than four hours. According to police officials, the team, including a woman police officer, had gone to the residence of the Rajya MP to seek details of the incident and record her statement.”

Additionally, the NCW summoned Bibhav on Thursday in connection with the case, with his hearing scheduled for Friday at 11 am.

The commission took suo moto cognisance of a media post titled “ex-DCW chief Swati Maliwal accuses Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary of assaulting her,” where she claimed that she was assaulted at the Chief Minister’s residence by Bhibhav Kumar, Kejriwal’s Private Secretary.

On Tuesday, Sanjay Singh addressed a Press conference and said the incident with Maliwal was a “highly condemnable” one, confirming that the assault did happen at Kejriwal’s residence. He, along with a member of DCW Vandana Singh, also went to visit her at her residence on Wednesday.

This incident has stirred controversy and speculation, as Kumar, a key figure in the Chief Minister’s office, faces serious allegations from a prominent public figure like Maliwal.

Maliwal on Monday morning went to the Civil Lines police station, police officials had said earlier.

According to sources, she also cried at the police station and when asked to do MLC in the matter, she stated she is not in a good state of mind and will file a formal complaint later.

She is yet to file a formal complaint in the matter.
