Two men held for firing at petrol pump employee during robbery attempt

The Delhi Police arrested two men for firing at a petrol pump employee during an alleged robbery attempt near the facility in northeast Delhi's Gokulpuri.

According to the police on Tuesday, the accused has been identified as 45 years old Satender, alias Baba and 39 year old Rahul Kashyap, alias Deepak.

The 48 year old Ravinder Pal Singh, who got a gunshot injury at left arm, is currently undergoing treatment at Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) hospital.

DCP Northeast Delhi Rakesh Paweriya said, “A PCR call at 10.36 am on Monday was received in the Gokalpuri police station regarding firing by weapon and manager of petrol pump was injured.

He along with his associate was going to deposit cash from the petrol pump into the bank when two persons on a bike stopped them and tried to snatch the bag.”

He added that when he resisted, the accused fired on him. The police said that no cash was robbed and accordingly a case under sections of 309(5) (robbery), 311 (Robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) and 3 (5) BNS and relevant sections of Arms Act was registered.

Accused Satender was found previously involved in 12 cases including cases of Maharashtra Control Of Organized Crime Act, 1999 (MCOCA), Murder, Robbery and Arms Act.

Accused Rahul was also found previously involved in seven cases including cases of Robbery, Theft and Arms Act.

The DCP stated that one person who has worked at the Petrol Pump had given information regarding the cash to the accused.

“Search of this third accused is being made,” Paweriya said.

He added that one pistol with one live cartridge and one fired cartridge and one motorcycle, which was stolen from GTB Enclave area, was recovered from their possession.
