Breakthrough in sivok-rangpo rail link project

Maligaon: In a major milestone, tunnel no. T-06 (3943 meters long) of the Sivok - Rangpo Rail Project (SRRP), located in Kalimpong District of West Bengal, achieved the breakthrough on 6th August, 2024.  There are total 14 tunnels in this project. With the breakthrough of this tunnel, mining activities have been successfully accomplished in 12 tunnels of this project.The length of the Main Tunnel T-06 is 3943 meters, along with an Evacuation Tunnel of length 577 meters situated near the NHPC, Teesta Low Dam Power Station III in Kalimpong District, West Bengal. The Main Tunnel traverses through vulnerable and challenging geological and seismic conditions of the Younger Himalayas.

Gndu, NSLF launch Annual scholarship

Amritsar: The Guru Nanak Dev University and the S. Nanak Singh Literary Foundation, under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, have announced the launch of an annual scholarship for deserving and high-achieving research students starting from the 2024-25 academic session. This scholarship will be awarded to eligible researchers based on criteria established by Guru Nanak Dev University, with an annual grant amount of Rs. 25,000.The inaugural fellowship was presented to research student Kulwinder Kaur by Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Kulbir Singh Suri, and Navdeep Singh Suri at a special event marking this significant initiative.

GNDU holds workshop for Journalism students

Amritsar: Department of Mass Communication, Guru Nanak Dev University organised an interactive workshop in collaboration with Collective Newsroom and British Broadcasting Corporation at Conference Hall, Guru Nanak Bhawan of the University. This workshop was organised under the Banner of BBC India Trainee Scheme. A Team of Senior journalists and Officials including Iqbal Ahmed, Shruti Arora, Arshdeep Kaur and Ravinder Robin shared their significant insights and experiences related to the field of journalism. Dr. Vasudha Sambyal, head of the department of Mass Communication, honoured the initiation of the event with her welcome remarks and Felicitating guests with Floral Saplings.
