Assembly polls will see repeat of BJP’s success in Haryana: Mahayuti leaders

Wednesday, 09 October 2024 | TN RAGHUNATHA | Mumbai

Buoyed by the BJP’s return to power in Haryana, the ruling MahaYuti leaders on Tuesday expressed confidence that Maharashtra would see a repeat of Haryana's “historic” victory in the forthcoming State Assembly polls.

Talking to media persons at the BJP headquarters here, State BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that the people of Haryana had rejected the Congress’ efforts to project a “false narrative” and mislead the backward classes in the north-Indian state.

“The Congress had misled the backward class community during the Lok Sabha polls. Similar false propaganda carried out by the Opposition Congress during the Haryana Assembly electioneering had fallen flat on its face.  The people of Haryana have supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s positive poll plank of ‘Vikasit Bharat’ ,”  Bawankule said. “After hearing what all Rahul Gandhi said in the United States abput reservations, the anti-reservation ace of the Congress stood exposed. The people have realized that only BJP can protest the Constitution and interests of people. The people want a double-engine government for development. The people of Maharashtra will deliver a similar verdict in the State Assembly poll,,” the State BJP chief said.

Expressing the BJP’s commitment to take all sections of the people along with it, Bawankule said: “It is for the Congress leadership to self-introspection As far as BJP is concerned, we will not become arrogant over our victory nor will get deterred by the electoral setbacks”.  .

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's son and Shiv Sena MP Dr Shrikant Shinde said that the people of Haryana had rejected Rahul Gandhi’s attempt to drive a wedge in the society through caste-religion-based politics

“The voters  Haryana have rejected these divisive tactics indulged in  by Rahul Gandhi. Instead, they have chosen  stability and progress offered by a double-engine government. Maharashtra will witness a similar outcome in the State Assembly polls”.

Addressing a news conference in Jalna in Marathwada during the fourth phase of the Jan Samwad Yatra, Shinde said: “Rahul Gandhi attempted to polarize votes with caste hatred wherever he went. However, the people of Haryana have responded decisively, rejecting this politics of division in favour of progress.”

Describing the BJP’s electoral victory in Haryana as a “clear message to Congress and opposition parties indulging in caste politics,” Shinde  said: “The people had secured some seats in Lok Sabha polls through  claims that the BJP, if re-elected to power, would rewrite the Constitution. However, the people rejected  the Congress' “fake narrative” used in the Haryana Assembly polls

“The people are seeing the positive impact of a double-+engine government—both at the state and national levels—and I am certain that this will reflect in the upcoming Maharashtra elections,” Shinde said.
