The central government-run Safdarjung Hospital can now boast of having a State-of-the-art Hemodialysis unit(to purify the blood of kidney patients) with advanced facilities which was unveiled by its Medical Superintendent Dr BL Sherwal recently. Due to the increase in cases of people suffering from kidney ailments and the consequent demand for dialysis, the upgradation of technology is expected to help the patients with better outcomes.
Dr Himanshu Verma, HOD Department of Nephrology, Safdarjung Hospital said that “his unit is the first central government hospital in Delhi to be equipped with online Hemodiafiltration (HDF)Machines. This hemodialysis Unit will also provide a hemodialysis Facility to CGHS patients. This initiative by the Central Government will be helpful to provide quality hemodialysis facilities to the kidney patients and will expedite kidney transplant programs in the hospital.”
Dr Sherwal added that the OPD timings have been increased to 8 pm for the services to be available 24x7. The inauguration was attended by Prof Geetika Khanna, Principal VMMC among others.
