What's AMOFOI; how it betters society

Sunday, 15 January 2023 | B RAMCHANDRA CST VOlTAIRE

AMOFOI is a registered social reform organisation.  It is an acronym. Its full term is Anti-Caste Marriage & One-Child Family Organisation of India. What  it does is to better the human society in India.

Dr BR Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution of India, wrote his book, 'Annihilation of Caste' in 1936. He did not live long to carry out his scheme. It is a matter of deep concern that no political party in India is coming forward to annihilate the caste system.

The AMOFOI is trying its best to fulfill the objective held out in Ambedkar’s book.  It is fully dedicated to annihilate the caste system, the dirtiest blot on Hinduism.

It annihilates caste, step by step,  by organising more and more of priestless, dowryless  love marriages. It has been doing so since December 10, 1980 (Human Rights Day).

Its work has been upheld by the Supreme Court  of India by its Judgment passed on 11.10.2022. The judgment of the Orissa High Court that went against AMOFOI in October - November, 2013 with a fine of Rs 2 lakh has been fully quashed by the Supreme Court of India on  October 11, 2022. By now (11.01.2023) AMOFOI has organised a total of 10,009 love marriages conducted by exchange  of garlands for the good of India and  the world.

Each AMOFOI couple takes the pledge to go in for “one-child family” and give the best English medium education possible to their would-be child. Priestless love marriage is the need of the hour throughout the world. AMOFOI marriage is intended to free the parents from the burden of huge spending in holding a marriage function.

Here is a case in point: By marrying Sagar Das, Surface Pilot, 23, of Angarbandha village, under Sadar PS of Angul  in AMOFOI on 11.01.2023 by exchange of garlands (AMOFOI Couple No. 10,009), Priyanka Behera, +2 Arts of Kosala village, under Chhendipada PS, Angul,  has given her parents a financial relief nearly to the tune of  Rs 5 lakh. All young women of Odisha and of India and of the whole World should be brave and bold like Priyanka and marry their respective lovers in the simplest way possible for the good of the entire mankind. Marriage should cease to be “parent-controlled”. It should be on the lines of the philosopher JS Mill (1806-1873) who said: “Over his body and mind the individual is sovereign”. The spirit of this statement has been well reflected under Article 21 of the Constitution of India. It reads: “No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty expect according to producer established by law”. Personal liberty includes the right to love and the right to have love marriage independent of parents.

Love marriages, if pushed to the global level, would ensure a high degree of international peace and progress. It has the potency to stop the mad war that has been imposed on Ukraine by the inhuman Russia.
