Warring issues stern warning on indiscipline in Punjab Cong

Wednesday, 27 December 2023 | PNS | Chandigarh

Ahead of the high-stakes meeting scheduled in the national capital between the Punjab Congress leadership and the party high command, tensions within the party have come to the forefront.

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, while interacting with the media in New Delhi ahead of the crucial meeting, has delivered a blunt message, indicating that strict action will be taken against any party member engaging in indiscipline. Unequivocal in his stance, Warring said that 100 percent action would be taken against those who break party discipline.

Highlighting the importance of coordination within the party, Warring underscored the consequences of a lack of harmony. He pointed out that the party had suffered losses in the previous elections due to internal disagreements and public airing of divergent opinions. The party, he warned, would incur further damage if discipline is not maintained.

“I would like to remind all the Congressmen that no one can present their individual views on a public platform otherwise action will be taken. A leader can give personal opinion after leaving the party,” he said.

Warring, without explicitly naming his predecessor Navjot Singh Sidhu, launched a scathing verbal attack, emphasizing that while being a part of the Congress, individuals cannot express personal opinions publicly. He asserted that if anyone wishes to voice their personal opinions, they should do so after parting ways with the party.

The timing of the meeting is crucial, and it is likely that the issue of infighting, which has sparked verbal clashes between Sidhu and Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Partap Singh Bajwa in recent days, will be addressed during the proceedings.
