Police will be able to ascertain whether Vinita Bhandari committed suicide or was murdered after getting the post mortem report on Tuesday, said the Tehri senior superintendent of police Navneet Singh. The body of the missing young lady was found on Sunday. He said that different teams of authorities are gathering evidence in the case to reveal the truth. The police found a half burnt body of 21-year-old Vinita Bhandari on Sunday in a forest area that  falls in Dehradun district's Rishikesh. Bhandari was allegedly missing from her home since December 4. After the police found the body, they called the victim's family members to the spot to recognise the dead body and they confirmed it as that of Vinita. It was being speculated that she committed suicide after a man named Arjun Rawat she was reportedly having an affair with allegedly refused to marry her. The police arrested him on Saturday, the SSP said. He said that the police immediately called the forensic team at the spot to ensure they gather all possible evidence in the case. He said that the police had received the missing complaint of the victim from her parents on December 4. According to them, their daughter had gone out of the house saying she was going to do some shopping. The police have been looking for the victim since then through CCTV footage and other evidence due to which they finally traced her half burnt body in the forest. On the question of whether Vinita committed suicide or murdered, the SSP said that it is possible that she committed suicide but the police are investigating from all possible angles. "We cannot say anything for sure before getting the post mortem report. The report will make the cause of her death more clear. Forensic experts have also gathered some evidence from the spot where the victim's body was found. We will also get those reports in two to three days. The police are investigating the matter diligently and will take all possible measures to ensure the culprits are put behind bars," added Singh.
