VBSY reaches more than 4 lakh people, thousands benefit from government schemes

The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) has so far reached more than four lakh people in various parts of the State. Information about various government schemes has been provided to the people in addition to which many have been linked to the schemes during this campaign which is aimed at ensuring that even the last person in society benefits from the welfare schemes of the government.

The VBSY was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 15 on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. The VBSY was flagged off on the same day for tribal areas of two districts of Uttarakhand- Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar. In Uttarakhand, the campaign was flagged off by the governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh from the Raj Bhawan in Dehradun. Later, the VBSY was flagged off for the rural and urban areas on November 23 and November 28 respectively. According to officials, as part of the campaign which is going to continue till January 26 next year, more than 200 vehicles will publicise government schemes in about 7,797 Gram Panchayats. These will include 4,380 Gram Panchayats in Garhwal region and 3,415 Gram Panchayats in the Kumaon region. Similarly, five vehicles will publicise the government schemes at 186 locations in the urban areas. These include 108 areas in Garhwal region and 78 in Kumaon region. In the urban areas, the campaign is already underway in Garhwal region while for the Kumaon region, one vehicle was flagged off on December 14.

Officials further informed that in the one month since its start in Uttarakhand, the VBSY has reached 4,09, 258 people in various parts of the State. These include 3,77,199 people in the rural areas and 32,059 people in the urban areas. The aim of VBSY is to link those people to government schemes on the spot who have not benefitted from them so far due to some reason. So far, the campaign has reached 3,841 Gram Panchayats and 33 sites in urban areas. Free health camps were organised in 3,841 Gram Panchayats and for 78,564 people in the urban areas. In the free health camps organised in the rural areas, 42,061 people were administered free TB tests and 11,179 were administered free tests for sickle cell anaemia. Further, 4,789 women were registered under Ujjwala Yojana in rural areas while 911 were registered under the scheme in urban areas. Similarly, 9,653 Ayushman cards were issued in rural areas and 653 in urban areas. In addition to this, farmers in rural areas were also given a demonstration of how to use drones for progressive farming. Such demonstrations have been staged in 924 Gram Panchayats so far.
