The two-day national level "Youth Conclave" was inaugurated on Thursday at the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal under the "Mission Life" initiative of the Government of India. About 200 participants are taking part in this conclave being organized from June 01 to 02.
After clearing the first stage conducted earlier, the selected participants appeared at the Indian Institute of Forest Management for the final stage.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by John Kingsley, Secretary, Narmada Valley Development Department and Director (Rehabilitation), NVDA; Subhash Chandra, IFS, CEO, CAMPA, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Prof. Vijay Kumar, Vice Chancellor, National Law Institute University (NLIU). On this occasion, K Ravichandran, Director, IIFM, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the participants on their entry into the second stage of this prestigious national event.
The event included Interactive talk sessions from distinguished personalities of the country on seven different themes of Mission LiFE, which included saving water, saving energy, reducing waste, reducing e-waste, adopting a sustainable food system, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and avoiding the usage of single-use plastic.
During the discussion on water conservation, expert Nitin Bassi said, "Due to climate change we are facing observing the effects like drought and excess rainfall, which is a global issue nowadays and needs to be controlled. For that, millets should be adopted at a mass scale and such crops should be cultivated which can be produced even with the minimum quantity of water."
Furthermore, a group discussion session was organized, in which three groups were formed on different seven themes under Mission Life, 10 participants were included in each group. After the group discussion, the selected participants will enter the next stage.
Following this, a "Plogging Drive" was also organized by the Indian Forest Management Institute in Sair Sapata, Bhopal under Mission Life, in which all the participants actively participated and spread the word for a clean and green environment. Along with that, cultural program was also organized.
