Tribal Unity Maharally in Ranchi on 4 February

Tuesday, 26 December 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

Former minister, member of the coordination committee of the Government of Jharkhand and working president of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee, Bandhu Tirkey, has said that for the coordinated, balanced, non-discriminatory and complete development of the tribals, Jharkhand People's Rights Day will be organized on 4 February 2024 at Morhabadi Maidan in the capital Ranchi. Tribal Unity Maharally will be organized by the platform. Tirkey said that in this Maharally, not only will the tribals be made aware of the actual ground situation through in-depth discussion on the issue of tribals, but a decision will also be taken for rapid agitation if necessary.

Tirkey said that this is an election year and till now the selfish elements have made their fortunes by using the tribals as a medium for their own ends, which is unfortunate. But this time we will not allow the tribals to become the weapon and food of such selfish and anti-social elements just for their own ends. Tirkey said that the tribals are worshipers of water, forest and land and apart from being naturally more innocent, they are also self-respecting and due to this, it is very easy to trick them. Tirkey said that due to this weakness of the tribals, even after 75 years of independence, the condition of the tribals remains pathetic and they struggle for food, clothing, education, health, employment etc. while struggling with the complex problems of their lives. While they are doing this, they are also losing their land.

He said that most of the people who do not have emotional connection with the land of Jharkhand have come from outside and have considered Jharkhand as pastureland. Similarly, the elements, especially the tribals, are being uprooted from their lands and the result is that the tribals are forced to migrate and migrate.

The senior Congress leader said that many rights were given to the tribals by the Congress government but now the rights of the tribals are being killed one by one by the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and if this situation continues then the tribals will lose their water, Along with forests and land, we will also lose our culture.

Tirkey said that in any situation and under any circumstances, the tribals will have to take care of themselves and in view of this, Tribal Unity Maharally has been organized by Jharkhand Jan Adhikar Manch.

He said that Jharkhand is not getting the benefits of the Fifth Schedule along with the PESA Act and this is unfortunate. Apart from this, due to the Forest Rights Act, the rights of the tribals have been limited and efforts are being made to alienate those tribals from their forests where their life resides. He said that in the last 23 years after the formation of Jharkhand, Jharkhand has developed at a strange pace because the uprooting of tribals is continuing at a very fast pace and today the negative changes in demography from the perspective of tribals are visible in the big cities of Jharkhand including Ranchi. Because of what has happened the tribals are feeling cheated. He said that in broader perspective this is a fatal situation for Jharkhand.
