The Madhy Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB) has taken major action against negligence in electricity photo meter reading. The services of 18 outsourced employees have been terminated and the salaries of 127 employees have been deducted. This action has been taken in 9 districts of the state including Bhopal and Gwalior. Warning has been issued to 78 meter readers for negligence in work.
Officials of the Central Region Electricity Distribution Company said that there were instructions to take strict action against the meter readers for being negligent in meter reading and taking wrong meter readings. Due to this, this action has been taken against one employee each in Rajgarh, Bhind, Ashoknagar, Narmadapuram, Datia, Shivpuri and Betul, six in Bhopal and five in Gwalior under the company's jurisdiction.
They have been separated from service on charges of disobeying orders and irregularities in meter reading.
Ganesh Shankar Mishra, Managing Director of Central Region Electricity Distribution Company, has directed the field officers and employees that meter reading should be done with accuracy at the consumers' premises. Electricity bills should be given to consumers only on the basis of meter reading. He has clarified that the work of meter readers should be monitored through Nishtha App and those meter readers who are negligent in performing their duties should be removed from service.
