State to have more welfare schemes for poor

The JMM/Congress alliance government will launch several welfare schemes with an aim to reach out to the poor. The government presently runs several welfare schemes which have become popular among the people and are changing their livelihood. Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday said that at present several welfare schemes are being run by the government and in future many more schemes will be launched.

Soren said, “In coming days the government will launch several welfare schemes and its number will be so high that it cant be counted on finger tips.”

Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched Rs 15000 crore 'Abua Awas Yojna' on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day to build homes for the needy in the next two years.

Hoisting the national flag at the Morabadi Ground here, Soren had said the government is constantly striving to build a strong state and making attempts to fulfil the promises made by it.

Abua Housing Scheme, a state-supported initiative aimed at providing three-room accommodations to eligible beneficiaries. Under the Abua Awas Yojana, houses are to be constructed in a minimum area of 31 square meters, including a clean kitchen. The scheme prioritizes the registration of houses in the name of women in the family.

Apart from these various other welfare schemes are run by the government. In 2019, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Mr. Raghubar Das, launched the Mukhyamantri Sukanya Yojana under the Women Child Development and Social Security Department of the state to stop child marriage in Jharkhand and save daughter, educate daughter.

However, on August 24, 2022, the state cabinet approved a proposal to change the name of the scheme to Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana. Under this revised scheme, girls will receive financial assistance of Rs 2,500 for enrollment in class 8, Rs 2,500 for enrollment in class 9, Rs 5,000 for enrollment in class 10, Rs 5,000 for enrollment in class 11, and Rs 5,000 for enrollment in class 12. Additionally, upon reaching the age of 18-19, the girl child will receive a lump sum grant of ₹20,000.

The main objective of the renamed scheme, Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana, is to prevent child marriages in Jharkhand and promote girls’ education. 

Appointments to about 38,000 posts in various categories were on the anvil while ensuring that the local citizens get its benefits.In order to speed up the process of recruitment in the state, the requisition has been sent to the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission for the recruitment. Advertisement has been published for the recruitment of 36,000 posts and the process of appointment will be completed soon.

The Mukhyamantri Rozgar Srijan Yojana is being implemented to provide loans at cheap and subsidised rates to tribal, dalit, backward, minority and differently-abled youth of the state for self-employment, for starting their business.

Similarly, a universal pension scheme has been started in the state and Rs 1400 crore was given to 35 lakh beneficiaries as pension till July 2023. Also there are several schemes in the education front too.
