In a significant victory against the ongoing threat of Naxal insurgency, police and paramilitary forces successfully recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the Naxal-infested Tonto Thana area of West Singhbhum district. The powerful explosives, weighing 10 kgs and five kgs respectively, were discovered in a forest stretch between Patatorab and Chidiabera villages.
Swift and coordinated action was taken by the authorities, who immediately detonated both IEDs upon detection, preventing any potential harm to the paramilitary forces operating in the region.
This development comes as part of an intensified operation initiated by the police and paramilitary forces since October 10 against CPI-Maoist rebels in Goelkera, Tonto, and Sonua Thana areas. The focus of the operation has been to root out Naxals who infiltrated the Kolhan and Porahat forest divisions in the district since January of this year.
The anti-insurgency efforts have not been without sacrifices, as three paramilitary jawans lost their lives, approximately two dozen jawans sustained injuries, and over a dozen innocent villagers tragically lost their lives due to exposure to IED explosions during the operations in the twin forest divisions.
The strategic move against the Naxals reflects the commitment of the security forces to safeguard the region from insurgency and protect the lives of civilians. The successful recovery and safe detonation of the IEDs underscore the effectiveness of the ongoing efforts to neutralize potential threats and maintain peace in the troubled areas.
As the operation against Naxals continues, the police and paramilitary forces remain vigilant, determined, and committed to eradicating the menace of insurgency from the region, ensuring the safety and security of the residents.
