Surendranath Centenary School celebrated its Annual Sports Cum Prize Distribution amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie at Birsa Munda Athletic Stadium, Khelgaon, Ranchi on Friday. Chief Guest Commandant JAP 10, D.K.Singh, graced the occasion and special guests Major Praveen Budhwani, Abhay Kumar Singh ( Principal,APS) and Sandip Jha (renowned architect) marked their presence to motivate the students on this occasion.
Principal, Samita Sinha extended a floral and formal welcome to the guests and dignitaries followed by the lighting of the flambeau by the Sports Captain and releasing of balloons, to mark the commencement of the event. The Chief Guest was accompanied by the Principal for the inspection of the spectacular parade by NCC cadets and the four Houses. The march past was a magnificent display of synchronization, discipline and team work. The School Magazine “Expressions” was also released on this auspicious occasion. Madam Principal then presented the Annual Report of the school which enumerated the notable achievements of the year 2022-23.
A field display based on the theme “INDRADHANUSH” involving mass student participation splattered on the field a riot of hues and vibrance. The displays included Vintage Toons where children of Nursery and KG performed as different cartoon characters. Red Fire Crackers by classes I & II and Orange Tigers by III – V were enthralling. Where Hari Neeli Titliyaan by the students of classes VI to VIII brought energy and enthusiasm to all, Hawa Hawaii by IX – XII girls and Joshile Yuva by the boys of IX – XII stole the show. The highlight of the day was the Yoga and Karate presentation by the students of III to V. They mesmerized the audience with their energetic performance. The proud parents could be seen filled with happiness to see their children performing.
The displays made way for the highly awaited Track events like Pick and Run, My Favourite Fruit, Balance Race, Three Legged Race, Skipping Race, Crab Race etc. It also included 100 m, 400 m Race, 4X100 m relay race, 3X50m medley race. Children participated with commendable vigour and enthusiasm. The Chief Guest as well as alumni of the school awarded the medals and certificates to the winners of the various sports events. The Co curricular Trophy and Sports Trophy were raised by Leopard and Jaguar House, respectively.
In the subsequent Prize Distribution, the winners of various academic, co-curricular and sports events were given medals, trophies and certificates. The special prizes for “Excellence in Academics” were also awarded to the students
