Rs 3-cr cash found at Addl Sub-Collector’s houses

The Vigilance police detected of more than Rs 3 crore during a raid on the properties of Nabarangpur Additional Sub-Collector Prasanta Kumar Rout on Friday.

According to Vigilance SP, the anti-graft agency’s nine teams conducted simultaneous raids at nine locations.

Till the last reports came in, the Vigilance officials recovered cash of Rs 2.25 crore from Rout’s Bhubaneswar residence while another Rs 77 lakh was recovered from his Nabarangpur house.

Further search operations were going on, the details of which would be shared in a later stage, the SP said.

The raids were being conducted at Rout’s two-storied house at Kanan Vihar in Bhubaneswar, his residence and office in Nabarangpur and ancestral home in Bhadrak.

The Vigilance officials also carried out raids at the house of Rout’s relatives at five other locations.

Notably, Rout, while serving as a BDO in Sundargarh district, had been arrested by the Vigilance in 2018 for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a Panchayat Executive Officer.
