Ram Nagari to be transformed as world class tourist destination Plan to develop Shri Ram Anubhav Kendra and Panchavati Island

Thursday, 07 December 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

As the majestic Ram temple takes shape in Ayodhya, the Yogi Adityanath government has embarked on the transformation of Ram Nagari into a world class tourist destination. Alongside this endeavour, plans are underway for the development of Shri Ram Anubhav Kendra and Panchavati Island near Guptar Ghat on the banks of the river Saryu.

The construction of Ram Anubhav Kendra on Panchavati Island aims to instill a sense of pride in the Indian populace for their Vedic civilisation. The objective of the government is to promote the assimilation of the cultural roots into daily life and foster a path towards a healthier and happier existence.

As per the proposal, the construction of Ram Anubhav Kendra will involve the use of temporary structures, which will be dismantled during the rainy season. Shri Ram Anubhav Kendra is planned to be non-operational during this period, a precautionary measure considering its proximity to the river Saryu. The Yogi government is placing a strong emphasis on implementing flood protection and management systems.

There is a proposal to construct Ram Anubhav Kendra on 75 acres of Panchavati island spread over one thousand acres. The water level around Panchavati Island typically stays approximately 12 feet below ground level, except during the rainy season.

Chief Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra recently gave his recommendation for no objection certificate (NOC) related to construction in a high-level meeting.

As per the proposal, the primary focus is on implementing a robust flood protection management system on Panchavati Island. Accordingly, Shri Ram Anubhav Kendra will remain non-operational during the rainy season. Following the conclusion of the rainy season, these structures will be reassembled and the operation of Shri Ram Anubhav Kendra will resume. To ensure safety, the structures will be positioned at a considerable distance from the river, creating a 100-foot buffer zone to eliminate any potential accidents.

Prior to the construction and operation of Ram Anubhav Kendra, the necessary approvals, including NOC from regulatory departments such as municipal corporation, Fire Service, electricity department, and UP Pollution Control Board will be obtained.

Officials from the relevant departments will be actively involved in ensuring compliance with all regulations. Additionally, a committee will be established to conduct surprise and regular inspections of Shri Ram Anubhav Kendra every 15 days, thereby preventing any deficiencies at any level.

The entire project has been designed as a self-sustainable model, the draft of which has been prepared on the guidelines of the Earth Ganga Project. Under this project, Panchavati Island will be a no-plastic zone. RCC and PCC will not be used for any construction. Bio-digestive septic tanks will be used for sewage disposal while water will be treated by sewage treatment plant (STP) as per the standards and used in horticulture and agriculture.

Organic, cosmic agriculture methods will be employed for growing crops on Panchavati Island. Local folk artistes will find employment opportunities through traditional folk singing and cultural programmes. Devotees will be given the chance to plant a sapling on the sacred land of Ayodhya in memory of their ancestors, promoting environmental awareness.
