Punjab Police on Monday conducted a special Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Bathinda range mainly focused on drug trafficking, anti-social elements, and criminals. Total of 41 anti-social elements were arrested after registering 33 first information reports (FIRs) during the operation, conducted on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.
The operation was conducted from 8 am to 1 pm simultaneously in both the police districts of Bathinda range, including Bathinda and Mansa, and SSPs were told to plan this operation in a meticulous manner amid massive deployment of the Police Force. The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of ADGP Bathinda Range SPS Parmar.
Sharing the outcomes, Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that the Police teams have arrested 41 anti-social elements after registering 33 FIRs during the operation, besides recovering Rs 3.5 lakhs drug money, 197.13 grams heroin, 14 kg poppy husk, 225 litres illicit liquor and eight mobile phones from their possession.
“The purpose of this operation was to instill a sense of safety and security among the common people and increase the presence of Police force in the field to infuse fear among the anti-social elements,” said Special DGP Law and Order, while maintaining that such operations will continue in coming days to completely root out the menace of drugs from the state.
Meanwhile, Bathinda Police have arrested 20 persons after registering 15 FIRs, while Mansa Police have registered 18 FIRs and arrested 21 accused persons.
