Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday made a slew of promises in Chhattisgarh including free electricity up to 200 units, waiving of loans of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), subsidized cooking gas cylinders and free treatment to victims of road accidents if her party retains power in Assembly elections.
Addressing an election rally at Jalbandha in the Khairagarh constituency, Priyanka Gandhi also promised that all government higher secondary and high schools will be upgraded into Swami Atmanand English and Hindi medium schools.
"If Congress retains power in Chhattisgarh, it will launch Mahtari Nyay Yojana for women to provide Rs 500 subsidy per gas cylinder," she said.
Loans of SHGs and loans availed by women under the Saksham Yojna will be waived, she added.
She also said that free treatment will be provided to the victims of road accidents and other sudden accidents under the Chief Minister's Special Health Assistance Scheme.
“Tivara (a type of lentil) will be purchased from the farmers at support price," she announced.
In the coming years, 700 Rural Industrial Parks will be established in Chhattisgarh, she said.
Asserting that the Congress was fighting the November elections on the development plank, the BJP was fanning communal sentiments, she said.
Hitting out at the BJP, Gandhi asked the audience: "Will you vote for those who mislead you in the name of religion and only bring problems in your lives or vote for a party that works to ensure your development and welfare?"
