Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, effective action is being taken to control crimes and with the monitoring of DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena, the members of the interstate bike thieves gang are being caught and the stolen bikes are being recovered.
Madhya Pradesh Police is not only taking the help of technology to reach these thieves, but is also catching them by conducting an intensive investigation campaign. Under this, the police in Jabalpur and Dhar districts including the capital Bhopal, acting promptly, have succeeded in arresting many bike thieves, including members of inter-state gangs.
The police, while taking action across the state including Dhar, Indore, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Dewas, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Katni, Harda and Narsinghpur, have arrested members of such gangs, who are involved in motorcycle theft incidents in other states as well. Police arrested more than 25 accused of different gangs and recovered more than 250 bikes from them.
Bike thieves were arrested by conducting a campaign by the Madhya Pradesh police. Police have got great success in arresting 15 accused by seizing 125 motorcycles worth lakhs of rupees during the action taken by 15 police stations of Jabalpur district.
On the other hand, the Pithampur police of Dhar district seized 81 motorcycles worth Rs 50 lakh and arrested four accused and the Bagh police seized 40 motorcycles worth Rs 25 lakh and arrested four accused.
In the interrogation done by the police, the accused have confessed to carrying out bike theft incidents in 9 districts of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
Similarly, while taking action against bike thieves in capital Bhopal, 10 bikes worth Rs 11 lakh were seized from Aishbagh police station area and one accused was arrested after seizing 3 bikes from Ratibad.
The arrest of the accused took place in this manner:-
Ranjit Baghel, in-charge of Bagh police station of Dhar district, received information through an informer that three bike thieves were about to go from Bagh to Tanda on a motorcycle. During vehicle checking on the Tanda bypass near the police station, four people of the same appearance as told by the informer to the police were seen coming on two motorcycles. He expressed his inability on asking for the documents of the vehicle. On being strictly questioned by the police, he confessed to having stolen the bike. After arresting, he also accepted the execution of other bike theft incidents and told that the stolen bikes are in Magarda.
Similarly, at Pithampur police station in Dhar district, on May 8 at around 8 pm, constable Dilip was informed by the informer that a gang of motorcycle thieves had been spotted in Sector 3 of Pithampur. On informing the station in-charge Sameer Patidar in this regard, he immediately formed a team and laid siege behind MPRDC Road, JBM Company, Khandhar and arrested four bike thieves on the basis of the description given by the informer.
