A Millet Cafe near Natwar School in Raigarh in Chhattisgarh on Sunday came for praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It is a one-of-its kind cafe that serves delicious dishes made from millets, combining nutrition with taste. It is the first millet cafe in the state operated by women.
It is a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh that Modi praised it and the Chhattisgarh government's initiative to promote millet in his radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'.
He told the listeners to visit the cafe whenever they get a chance to visit Raigarh and enjoy the cuisine there.
“Pasta, cheela, idli, manchurian, momos, pizza, noodle, dosa made from ragi and biryani made from kodo can be tasted in this café,” he said.
Mission Millet has been launched in Chhattisgarh to boost the production of coarse grains and minor grain crops like ragi, kodo and kutki and more.
Besides, Chhattisgarh procures them at support price. With this initiative, the area under millets in Chhattisgarh has increased by one and a half times and the production has also increased significantly.
The Raigharh cafe has started with the cooperation of the district administration and operated by the Vikas Sangh Women's Group.
