Fourth National Lok Adalat was today held at the Garhwa district and sessions court and Nagar Untari Sub-Divisional court where more than 6 thousand pre-litigation and post-litigation cases were disposed of, according to officials.
Principal District Judge cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority Rajesh Sharan Singh was inaugurating the National Lok Adalat on the premises of district courts here on Saturday.
Addressing the judicial officers and public the PDJ said that the primary goal of Lok Adalat is to quickly and cost-effectively readdress the wide range of civil, criminal and compoundable cases, which lowers the burden of the formal judicial system.
He highlighted the importance of Rashtriya Lok Adalat in detail. He said that the upliftment of the society will have to be done by the people of the society and the District Legal Services Authority is always ready for this. District Legal Services Authority solves every problem related to every taluka of the society. He further said that the District Legal Services Authority is an integrated institution of court, administration and police which works in a coordinated manner for the people and solves their problems.
He exhorted the litigants to amicably resolve their differences, saving time and money in the process. “In this alternative dispute resolution method, both the parties to the dispute are winners,” he pointed out.
He emphasised the need for approaching Lok Adalats for early disposal of cases. He said the awards passed in Lok Adalat were not appealable and it would save time and money for the litigant public. Litigants can get refund of court fee in the cases settled in Lok Adalats.
Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Kumar Vipul said that a total of 6463 cases were taken up for settlement in the Garhwa district, and 6343 of them were settled, awarding over Rs 86,92,46, 501.96.
According to the Secretary, 22 benches were constituted in the Garhwa and Sub-Divisional court Nagar Untari to resolve the cases in judicial proceedings. Out of the total cases disposed of, 5,551 were pre-litigation cases (resolved before any formal legal complaints in regular courts), and 796 were post-litigation cases.
