The 17 tiger bearing states are to further strengthen its security for the tigers. A one day session for security audit of the tiger reserves across India was held in Delhi under the aegis of the NTCA.
The 17 tiger-bearing states are Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, MP, Rajasthan, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, West Bengal, UP, Uttrakhand, Mizoram, Maharashtra and Assam.
Chief conservator of forest and field director PTR Kumar Ashutosh said "I have come to Delhi to attend the NTCA meeting. I have attended the session of the security audit of the tiger reserves. Again there is a two day deliberation beginning December 19."
On being asked about what it is meant by pending mortality of the tiger as mentioned in the agendae to the NTCA meeting Ashutosh said this is where prosecution in the event of killing of the tiger is pending.
The deliberation is also for the eco sensitive zones across the tiger reserves in India. There are 53 tiger reserves in India.
It is mandated first to have eco sensitive zones notified. The Palamu tiger reserve has notified eco sensitive zones. In eco sensitive zones there are 3 categories like prohibited activity, permitted activity and regulated activity.
Under the prohibited category there can't be any mining or industry. For the permitted activity it is agricultural activity. The regulated activity in the eco sensitive zone is setting up of hotels, solar systems etc.
The NTCA meeting is to have a broader deliberation.
