In response to the plummeting temperatures and the looming winter chill, the district administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri, has come up with a meticulous plan to shield the community from the harsh cold. A multifaceted approach has been adopted, ranging from the strategic placement of bonfires to targeted distribution of blankets among the impoverished and destitute.
The district administration made elaborate arrangements to protect from cold, arrangements for bonfires at all major intersections and public places. Instructions have been given to ensure distribution of blankets among poor and destitute people and to send those sleeping in the open to night shelters.
Bonfires have been arranged in all the major intersections, public places and railway stations of the district. Blankets, food and other necessary basic facilities have been provided in all night shelters and shelter homes to protect from cold.
The DC also directed the officials to ensure distribution of blankets among the poor and destitute needy people. He directed the concerned officials to conduct inspections and ensure that no person sleeps in open places. The officers should make every possible effort to ensure that proper arrangements for bonfires are made at major intersections to protect them from the cold and those sleeping in the open are shifted to night shelters.
Bhajantri noted: "Our priority is to ensure the well-being of every member of our community, especially during the winter. We are leaving no stone unturned to provide warmth and comfort to those in need. Bonfires have been arranged at all major intersections, public places, and railway stations across the district. Blankets, food, and essential amenities are available in night shelters, assuring comprehensive protection from the biting cold."
"We have instructed officials to actively engage in the distribution of blankets among the poor and destitute. Our goal is to ensure that no one is left exposed to the elements without adequate protection," he noted.
Another official said: "We have been directed to conduct thorough inspections to identify individuals sleeping in open areas. It is imperative that everyone is shifted to night shelters, where they can find warmth and safety. We urge the community to report any instances of individuals without proper shelter. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that no one in our district suffers from the harsh winter conditions"
This winter protection initiative embodies the district administration's commitment to the welfare of its residents. By addressing the immediate needs of the vulnerable population, the administration aims to create a resilient and supportive community during the challenging winter months.
