Nadda slams opposition for Dhankar’s mimicry

Thursday, 21 December 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

Bharatiya Janata Party president Jagat Prakash Nadda expressed profound disappointment over a recent incident in which the Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar, was subjected to mockery by opposition leaders, during a protest held outside the parliament against the expulsion of some Members of Parliament from parliamentary proceedings.

Addressing a gathering at Sansad Mahakum in Basti Nadda criticised opposition MPs for abandoning the principles of respectful debate and instead resorting to disrespectful antics, turning the parliamentary session into a regrettable spectacle.

“People elect their representatives to engage in constructive debates, but some opposition MPs chose to become clowns, mimicking the constitutional post-holder within the hallowed halls of Parliament,” Nadda said.

The BJP   president expressed deep concern over the incident occurring in the Parliament House courtyard, where leaders from the opposition alliance, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, were seen laughing while an opposition member imitated the Vice President.

Rahul Gandhi even filmed the whole act on his mobile phone.

Emphasising on the gravity of the situation, Nadda said, “How shameful this is! The Vice President, who holds a constitutional post, was insulted, and the Congress, with its more than a century-old history, has resorted to such behavior.”

Taking a direct dig at Rahul Gandhi, he questioned his commitment to the welfare of OBCs (Other backward class) and backward classes, given the disrespectful act towards Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who hails from the OBC category.

“The public needs to reflect on whether they can tolerate individuals who disrespect the Vice President of the country. Such behavior has no place in politics,” Nadda said, while emphasising the need for a higher standard of conduct in political discourse.

Nadda also spoke about the state of the Congress party, remarking on its decline and highlighting the unfortunate scenario where Congress leaders were now seemingly engaged in the role of cameramen rather than contributing meaningfully to the political landscape.

He urged the people of the country to consider leadership that focuses on development and progress. He encouraged voters to support those who align with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasising the transformative changes witnessed during the 9 and a half years of the Modi government.

Nadda highlighted the success of initiatives like Khel Mahakumbh, a sports competition that has grown significantly under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, reflecting the positive changes in India’s youth and the nation’s overall development.
