Union Minister of Tribal Affairs and Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Arjun Munda launched the two-day program of “Adi-Vyakhyaan” Series-2 organized by the National Tribal Research Institute. National Institute of Tribal Research, is organizing Aadi Manthan – 2 day Orientation Program on 21st and 22nd December, 2023. It is an initiative to explore tribal identity and tribal contribution to the cultural diversity of our country. The objective of this program is to deeply understand the complexities of tribal tradition and culture and explore the challenges of their survival.
The Minister delivered the inaugural address in which he emphasized on tribal identity, their promotion and protection. Emphasizing on tribal identity, he said that tribal language and literature are important to maintain tribal identity. He also highlighted the current efforts made by the Government for the uplift of tribal people, especially the highly ambitious Pradhan Mantri Tribal Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM Janman) initiative for the Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
He called for Aadi Manthan to further the discussion on Forest Rights Act (1986), PESA (1996), SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act (1989) and the need for a research institute like "National Tribal Research Institute" to spread awareness among the tribals. He stressed the need to make the tribal people aware of the constitutional protections enshrined in the Constitution and acknowledged the need to reconsider the past, present and future for the welfare of the tribal community.
Professor Nupur Tiwari, Director, NTRI, New Delhi outlined the orientation program and said that Aadi Manthan is an important initiative to encourage discussion and interaction with tribal communities in India.
Itwa Munda, President, Bharat Munda Samaj highlighted the need for cooperation and understanding among the different tribes of the country and stressed the need for preservation of tribal culture and heritage. He highlighted that such programs will help in preserving the language and culture of the tribals and help them guide future generations.
Roop Lakshmi Munda, Vice President, Bharat Munda Samaj shared her concern for the empowerment of tribal women. He highlighted the progress of women and their challenges in the tribal society. For them, Aadi Manthan Charcha can help as a platform for the liberation of tribal women.
